In a bizarre crossover event that challenges usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of prohibited practices and fearsome changes echo through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden cult.

The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Transformations

The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
