Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
